White and Green Wedding Flowers at Clearwell Castle

When it comes to timeless wedding flowers, you can’t go wrong with a classic white and green palette. Recently, I had the joy of flowering a beautiful wedding at Clearwell Castle, one of the most romantic wedding venues in Gloucestershire. Nestled in the Forest of Dean, Clearwell Castle provides a breath-taking backdrop, and the flowers we created were designed to feel as if they belonged within its historic walls.

Wedding Ceremony Flowers at Clearwell Castle

The ceremony took place outside at the castle’s Bandstand, where the perfect backdrop is the castle itself, surrounded by stunning greenery and lawns. To complement the setting, we created white and green ceremony flowers with a mix of fresh seasonal blooms and lush foliage.

The couple was hoping for an accent of small flowers with some greenery to decorate the end of the chairs, so we created minimalistic, yet elegant garlands, that we repurposed as table centres afterwards. The focal point was two large urns, blending in with the colour of the castle and its natural surroundings. The effect was soft, elegant and deeply romantic, without overpowering the grandeur of the space.

White and Green Bridal Bouquet

The bride carried a cascading white and green bouquet — trailing jasmine, delicate roses, peonies, orchids with some British grown seasonal beauties like ammi, astrantia and saponaria to add depth and movement. It was designed to enhance her look, rather than overshadow it, and paired beautifully with her Maggie Sottero gown.

This kind of palette is always a photographer’s dream, working beautifully against both the bride’s dress and the castle’s stone backdrop, Nick Murray captured the most stunning moments.

Reception Flowers at Clearwell Castle

For the reception in Clearwell Castle’s grand dining hall, we designed a mix of green and white table garlands. We used a mix of foliage with some added gypsophila. The floral urns on pedestals were transferred from the ceremony to become the perfect backdrop for the couple, framing the fireplace.

Why Choose a White and Green Wedding Palette?

White and green is a truly timeless wedding colour palette. It’s elegant, versatile and works in every season. With the right choice of flowers, it can feel fresh and modern or whimsical and romantic. We absolutely love creating natural, garden inspired wedding flowers with lots of seasonal elements, especially for a venue like Clearwell Castle. It enhances the historic beauty without competing for attention.

Planning Your Clearwell Castle Wedding Flowers

If you’re planning a wedding at Clearwell Castle and are looking for wedding florist inspiration, a white and green palette is a beautiful place to start. I can picture scented narcissi and tulips with hellebores in the winter, stunning ranunculus, camassias and blossom in the spring, beautiful roses, delphiniums and scabiosas in the summer, dahlias, cosmos and zinnias in the autumn, just to name a few. A florist's dream!
