How far in advance should we book our wedding flowers? Most couples book 12–18 months before their wedding, especially for popular summer dates. If your wedding is sooner, don’t worry — it’s always worth getting in touch as I may still have availability.
-
Do you travel for weddings outside South Wales?Yes! I design wedding flowers across South Wales, Bristol, the Cotswolds and beyond. We are more than happy to travel around the UK and Europe. Travel costs are included in your bespoke proposal so everything is clear from the start.
-
How do we book a consultation with you?Simply fill out the enquiry form on my website. I’ll be in touch to arrange a consultation where we’ll chat through your ideas, venue and overall vision for the day.
-
How much do wedding flowers cost?Every wedding is different, so pricing depends on your venue, season and the scale of your flowers. Most couples spend between £2,000–£7,000 with Dorothy Seed, but I’ll always create a bespoke proposal tailored to you.
-
Is there a minimum spend for full-service weddings?Yes, my minimum spend for full-service weddings is £2000. This ensures I can dedicate the right time, flowers and design detail to create a cohesive look across your whole day.
-
Do you offer itemised quotes or packages?I don’t offer fixed packages because every wedding deserves a unique approach. Instead, you’ll receive an itemised proposal based on your specific needs and style.
-
Can we request specific flowers or colours?Absolutely! I always design with the season in mind, sourcing from local growers whenever possible. If there’s a particular flower or colour you love, let me know and I’ll do my best to include it or find an alternative that you'll love.
-
What’s your floral design style? My style is natural, ethereal, and garden-inspired, sparking curiosity and imagination — think unstructured arrangements that feel alive within their setting. I draw inspiration from the countryside, botanic gardens and the changing seasons, while also weaving in elements from the venue, its surroundings and the style and personality of my couples.
-
Do you offer mock-ups or samples before the wedding?Yes, if you’d like a sample arrangement, we can schedule this closer to your wedding date so you can get a feel for how the flowers will look (individual charges apply). For larger installations, I create a digital sketch, helping couples visualise the scale and overall feel of their design in situ.
-
Are your wedding flowers eco-friendly?Yes — sustainability is at the heart of Dorothy Seed. I never use floral foam or single-use plastics, and I prioritise sourcing from local flower growers whenever I can. Any imported flowers are chosen carefully with impact in mind.
-
What happens to the flowers after the wedding? The day after your wedding, I can bunch flowers for you and your family to take home. Alternatively, I donate them to local causes such as local hospices or charities, where they’re used in creative projects like floral art sessions with dementia patients.
-
Do you use floral foam or single-use plastics?Never. My designs are created with reusable, natural mechanics like moss, twigs, water and chicken wire.
-
Do you run floral workshops, like Christmas wreath making?Yes — although these are usually organised by private groups. I run workshops for company team-building events, birthdays, hen parties or baby showers. I’m also happy to collaborate with local businesses, as I have in the past with John Lewis Cardiff and Newport Market.
-
Can we book a private workshop or hen-do activity?Of course! I love creating bespoke floral workshops for hen parties, birthdays or special gatherings. Just get in touch and we can organise something unique for your group.
-
Do you use seasonal flowers in your designs?Always. I believe seasonal flowers not only look their best and have the lowest carbon footprint but also create the most memorable connection to your wedding day. By seasonal, I mean flowers that are mainly in season in the UK and Europe, which I sometimes supplement with other imported blooms, taking into account the growing conditions in the country of origin (for example, the greenhouse emissions and carbon footprint associated with shipping).
